  • PRACTICE & EDUCATION:

    ..."education rules the nation"...

Even if we are a non-competing pipeband, it's quite important for us to improve ourselfs musically , find new members and support them . When, where and how we do this is described in the following:

    Practice:

We always want to improve ourselfs musically - technically and in terms of rhythmn as well as expression. Furthermore the use of non-pipeband instruments requires an even higher knowledge and skill regarding music theory and feeling as "normal" pipebands would require.
To achieve these goals, we practice regulary once per week in a room of the Traditions community Memmingerberg, near the Allgäu International Airports Memmingen.
Beside musical quality, fun and companionship are the most important things for us.

    Youth development & education:

    Nachwuchs

We're always looking for new members who fit us and complement us in all ways. Even non-piping or non-drumming musicians are welcome, as we always like to experiment with different styles and improve our own style. If necessary, we also teach newcomer or "musical career changer". Knowledge of music theory isn't required that much but helpful - we'll teach you what we need. A keen rhythmical perception is also a clear advantage. Beside this it's negligible if you are young or old, musically experienced or not - main thing is to share our enthusiasm for this kind of music and the ability to invest some of your time. In the beginnings, we use only practice chanters / drum pads, so costs are also affordable.
If you want to learn piping or drumming or just want to try it yourself one time, visit us on a band practice or speak to us in person on an event. Same if you know somebody (who knows somebody, and so on...) who has an interest in this kind of music...
Please contact us in this case just before the visit, so that we can ensure that the right person for you is available on your visit.

    Instruction:

Learning bagpipes isn't that difficult as one's thinking. However it's a quite longterm process, so patience and endurance is in demand. Depending on your commitment and talent, pupils (completely without any previous musical knowledge) can achieve to play first easy tunes within averaged 1 to 1.5 years - not more than with any other instrument.
But everything is half as bad as one's thinking if you can learn it from an experienced piper. It's an continuing learning process for all of us - whatever level - which we go together in our band with much fun.
All our members get regulary individualised teaching as well as in groups to improve continuously. Especially beginners get an experienced teacher aside who leads them individually to the band level. Furthermore, we do some small band internal workshops on different topics like instrument maintenance, tuning or complex tunes.
